Hi Folks,

I want to let you know all Tails are on hold until my new website is completed. Julie and I are working hard to make that happen. You are gonna melt like snow on a summer day when you see it!

In the meantime, you can watch the Olympics to keep you occupied so there are no withdrawal symptoms.

Quick update…

My new site is coming along grrrreat! I can’t wait to share it with you. All my free time is focusing on finishing that project instead of sharing new Tails here. Hope you understand. Woot!

Don’t you love looking back through baby photos and hearing about baby Tails?

This is Julie when she was a little bit of-a-thing. Do you know she never had a dog growing up? I am numero uno! She did have some cats and they were bigger than me, which isn’t too tough to accomplish since I am 3 pounds wearing my complete winter wardrobe all at once, dipped in a bathtub with a full bladder, after dinner.

Funny, this also brings back to mind my Tail about gratitude…remember, the whole Tounge Tail?? The above is another perfect-o example of how momma and I are on the same (web)page. Anyhow, back to the topic at hand (or in my case, paw)…sometimes I wonder if folks get my dorky humor. Oh well.

I shared with you how I came to live in Massachusetts in my Tail Becoming a Bostonian. I’d like to go back a little further and share with you more about my early months. Months, ha ha, I am not even one year old yet so I can’t say “early years.”

I was born in California. Doesn’t that sound charming?! My father is a yorkie and my mother is a chihuahua. Here we are when I was just 6 weeks old. My birth name was Charlie.

Look how dark colored I was with those raccoon eyes. You can even see a hint of ‘Norbert Eyes’ there, like I mentioned in my Quirk Tail.

I was born the smallest guy in the bunch. Here I was at about 3 months old looking a little more woolly, like a chocolate macaroon with extra coconut shavings poking out. Mmmm, I’m hungry.

Since I was such a small pup I visited the doctor frequently to make sure I was healthy. Everybody at the vet wanted to take me home but I held off for the perfect new momma. And I found her!

My valiant voyage across the United States was well worth the effort. I am so grateful for my time in warm Cali, and so filled with joy living here in Boston. Speaking of Boston…

Julie took me shopping to a place called Sak’s Fifth Avenue. I thought it strange that the store wasn’t on 5th Avenue. No matter…Julie had to pick up a few beauty products and toted me in the man purse/sash. Well let me tell you, the women working there loved me and gave momma all little freebies, and asked that I come back anytime. What warm and welcoming folks here in the city!

This was yesterday, if you saw me right now, I would NOT be looking like the above! Julie also bought clippers that buzz something fierce, and gave me a good hair chop. I didn’t mind the clip and think I look pretty handsome. Pictures coming soon.

Update on the new website: slow going in development but it will be worth it. I’d say you will be seeing it in about 2 weeks.

Greetings!

In keeping with the shower / clean theme that has been lingering this week, here is another happy, soggy-chorkie photo.

Look at my paws – doesn’t the wet fur look like hands from Dr. Suess’ Grinch? Lank, liquid and rubbery.

Compare:

If you do more than just look at a photograph, I mean really see the picture, you can notice some interesting, thoughtful details. I considered this idea on Thursday after a friend sent me a video clip.

When I watched the clip I noticed some folks laughing in the background, in addition to the main footage. This can be a neat-o, deliberate thought process when watching a movie too, especially if it is a film you have seen more than once. Attention to detail!

Here is another example when I was “driving.” What else do you see besides Norbie at the wheel?

~ Hair-raising Tail

Bonjour Folks!

I wanted to share a Baby Tail with you this morning, BUT that is on hold because instead I have some hair-raising news!

I really wanted the above to be my ‘Saturday Smiles’ photo but couldn’t wait that long. HA!

Back to my news…

Julie had her first class in understanding how to build my new website and we are both more excited than steak tips on Sunday. Um, actually, that metaphor doesn’t work for momma because she doesn’t eat steak. More for me, yesss!

Second try: we are more excited than poop on a puppy pad. Um, okay, no. Gross Norbert. Bad Norbert!

Third try’s a Norbert size charm bracelet: WE are MORE EXCITED than new norbie clothes? napping at noon? Wait, got it. We are more excited than a sunlit chorkie in a basket:

That didn’t make much sense either but its a cute picture so we will rock-n-roll with that.

Thank you again for this gift #1 Mom!

Julie is going to work very hard to get my new site completed. Until that time, my Tails might be a bitty-bit abridged. We are putting all of our creative apple-juices (DO YOU GET THAT PUN?! cause my computer is a MAC a.k.a. Apple) into developing the new site. Do check back daily though because I am committed to giving you updates, photos and short-tails.

Gobs of excitement this morning. I have a veeery special guest post to share with you. It speaks for itself. Here we go…thank you GINGER!

A Tail of Two Cities

It was the best of chorkie times, and the worst of chorkie times. Last summer, Norbie’s Momma Julie left for a trip, and he stayed at our home: Richard and Ginger. We actually don’t live in a city, but rather, in the countryside on the edge of 600 acres of cranberry bogs. As tearful and choked up as Norbie was (for about two seconds) to see his Momma leave, he began to bounce around for joy as he realized treats a-plenty were flowing, there was a large farmhouse to explore, and there was an acre of thick, green grass in which to run and romp.

Norbs, we love having you to our home. As a reminder of your travels, here is an excerpt from the country journal you keep at our house:

“Hey, I heard momma tell them as she went out the door not to give me more than two or three treats a day, but these guys must be hard of hearing or sumpthin’. I only have to look cute and really hungry to easily finagle way more than that out of them. I am in doggie heaven here. Yeah, yeah–they made me learn how to sit pretty, beg, and all that show-off, goofy doggie stuff, but I’m a quick learner and if a treat awaits, I’ll pop up or down and make them smile. They’re pushovers.

I hang out at Ginger’s feet while she’s cooking and every so often she says, “Oops!” and a smidgen of something tasty falls right in front of me. I know she likes clean floors, so I am happy to oblige by whisking away the crumbs and giving my little belly some welcome deliciousness. OK, so I’m a crumb-grubbing gobbler. You got me there.

I can’t climb stairs, so I’m patient when Richard disappears to the second floor. When he returns, I wag my tail so hard it looks like I’m twisting to Chubby Checker, and since he likes Oldies, I know he appreciates that. Then I bounce straight up and down and run back and forth. He picks me up, I plaster kisses all over his face and yup, I get another treat. I’m good! They both tell me so.

The Best Thing was wrestling with Ginger’s red flip-flops in the grass. I made little bitty chorkie grrr sounds and threw my head from side to side with the red rubbery yum yum clamped firmly between my tiny teeth. Since it was bigger than me, I would sometimes fall down. But what do you do when you fall? That’s right! You get right back up. Who says a chorkie can’t be a philosopher who flips for flip flops? Have you ever fallen down and gotten back up? That’s the spirit! Tell me about it!

I also took a trip to the beach and even posed in a kayak for a few photos. No, they wouldn’t let me leave the shore, but that’s OK. Ginger, who is an artist also took lots of photos of me and painted a very handsome Dog Portrait of yours truly. But that’s another Tail to tell.

Before long, Momma came to get me and I got lots of good-bye hugs and a new blue tug toy as a parting gift. Trips can be fun, and it made going home feel special. After all, there’s no place like home.”

What a stellar jaunt down memory avenue!

I mentioned I was going to reveal one of my biggest quirks. Let us start by defining a”quirk.”

quirk

/kw?rk/ –noun

1.	a peculiarity of action, behavior, or personality; mannerism: He is full of strange quirks.

I have a ‘peculiar action’ that relates to my eyes and to my head. Julie calls it laziness, but in reality, it is a super-sense of nimble alertness, peripheral awareness, subtle strategic acuteness. This clever quirk is what I humbly coined: “Norbert Eyes.”

In simple terms, I look at someone or something without moving my neck or head. You will see the whites of my eyes and often, my ears go back as I surmise the situation. (not talking about Jersey shore here folks, but rather the situation of my surroundings). Really, it is and efficient way of conserving energy, engaging in a mindful presence with a slick edge. Do you follow me? I am totally captain commando. Stealth.

ha Ha HA, but to the normal Mr. Whoever-you-are, I am just a small chorkie with a goofy quirk.
