~ Gratitude: A Tongue Tail

One very important value I hold is GRATITUDE. I believe it is very important to reflect upon those things that I am thankful for in my life and in this world. Certain elements of my life are always in my daily gratitude mantra: my momma, friends and family, my health, colorful toys, nourishing food and clean water. I got to thinking about other things I am grateful for that I perhaps take for granted on a daily basis.

After looking through my photo albums, while considering the idea of gratitude, I thought about something seemingly unusual. My tongue. Yep, the long, slimy pink taste-bud wearing, licking tool that makes its home in my mouth. I’ve never included this slobbery device in my gratitude, but after considering its many functions, I think it right to include my tongue in my list of thankfulness. What would a snake be without its hiss, how would a giraffe clean its ears, a frog grab its flies and how would Saint Norbert Liv Freyermuth function without giving kisses?

I use my tongue for ample daily activities. After doing some research, I learned my tongue’s functionality goes well beyond the obvious:

  • drinking water and eating my food
  • tasting food
  • giving kisses to momma
  • making my squeaky sound
  • wound healing – licking wounds helps facilitate the healing process
  • texture testing tool
  • concentrating (Julie does this too)
  • giving myself little baths
  • regulating my body temperature

I read that it is perhaps one of the most important muscles in my body! As such, I present to you a picture reel as an ode of gratitude to my tongue:

This is perhaps my favorite fav tongue pic of all time:

In fact, let’s zoom in a bit on that…love this fatty-face-pic

Here is a frog sticking his tongue out at me!

And for fun, here is momma using her tongue! She always sticks it out when she concentrates…

WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR THAT PERHAPS GETS TAKEN FOR GRANTED?

Hope you enjoyed this Tail of my Tongue. Whew, I’m tired from all this typing, going to go have a slurp of water. Thanks tongue.

Love, Saint Norbert Liv
